another choice ?

Thanks guys, I'm not sold on the Elk. Just wanted to take the wife to a nice place where she can relax and I can fish. We'll both be happy. I'd like to keep it within 6-7 hours. Any suggestions ?...

I bought Rio Gold last year. i don't get as much life from a fly line as I expect. I fish 40-50 times per year. I primarily use two rods so about 20-25 trips per rod per year. That extended the life...

I was in Clinch last week and agree the temp was over 60 degrees. I was there only 1.5 hrs. and decided to leave. No fish rising and water was stained. I made the decision to get out. I practice...

Madison, I know your familiarity with the Clinch. I've seen you fish it and fished with a mutual pal last Saturday. We fished the usual suspect midges with no success.
We were discussing a black...

So.Ho.

Good advice to check in at So.Ho. Fly shop. Scooter maybe guiding but the new guy will probably know what is happening. The upper end of the river will probably have sulfurs/b.w.o/black flies that...

water temps

I fish 30-40 times each year. I check the water temp 95 % of the time. It is not unusual for the water temp to be warmer/cooler that the ambient temp.

Resole

If you can get the felt, Pendergrass shoe repair in Knoxville will do it. They replaced the felt on my boots and did a great job. I found the felt at South Holston Fly Shop. I was there last week but...

Make a call

Just saw a report on the Animas. May want to check it out. Division of Mines caused a significant dump of minerals from a mine. May call Ab's Fly and Fish or Duranglers for a report.

Thanks Grumpy, this will be my first time on the Caney. Sounds like not much top water action. Any b.w.o.s, midges of sulfurs ? My plan is to do a guide float trip then wade this September/October....

I fished Miller Island Saturday and had similar results as Joe. Found midges heavy and the fish small. I saw a rise and fished to it and the lane must've been slammed full. I use a dry with a dropper...

I support the move to increase fees. I cannot think of one expense that has not increased in the past 10 years. Anyone who makes their living on the water should pay a fee. If guides average 120 days...
