I just returned from 8 days in Montana that included a full day on the Madison near Ennis. We caught browns and one rainbow, all 16" to 19", and lost a couple much larger; and we caught one rainbow...

I agree about Frog's Fanny. It is a very fine, flakey powdery substance, almost insubstantial as you brush it on, but it really floats or reconditions a fly. I used Shamizaki until Frog's Fanny came...

The water in all streams will be low in September, but the Truckee will be a good bet; if you are patient, you can tie into some very good fish on the Truckee. I actually prefer fishing the North...
