Thanks Stonefly
Is this the 5 minute version sold at Lowe's ? I have never used epoxy, usually just pull the foil over and tie it in but would like to use a bubble.

I have tied and fished several black fly patterns. I have not found one that is better than all the others. The one I usually go to is #22-#22 black thread with a very small amount of short white...

sounds like
a cripple based on your description M.B. I was asking whether the wire is brassie wire, 77 answered that. I use a 102 Y hook when I tie cripples. I like that hook, and it floats with the gape in the...

So. Ho. stained
I fished the middle section, the water was stained. I did not see many bugs, a few b.w.o.s not many and not too many fish rising. I fished skinny water early and caught several fish on bead heads....

Cherokee Nat. Forest
While you're there fish Beaver Dam, it is free stone much like the Little River and fishes very similar. We fished it then fished the So.Ho. two days. There is a campground on the Beaver.

thanks Grannyknot, I think you're correct. I tie with the small rib that does not come on spools. I found it in small packs with several feet in each pack.

'd-rib'
I tied some with 'd' rib not 'v'
'd' is very small, I'm not sure in relationship to 'v' anyway I will sling them this weekend. Punk just inspired me.

my two cents worth
It would be a good idea to give Rod or Scooter at call at the south holston fly shop. Another good idea would be to take your b.w.o. and sulfur fly boxes. I have fished there for years and it is...

So was I
I fished the So.Ho. Saturday and Sunday and the hatch (b.w.o.s and sulfurs) was minimal I was able to hook up with enough browns to make it a good day for me and my pal. We used #21 (yep #21) c.d.c....

I'm still stuck on the "Cockeyed Valdez" c.d.c. crane fly imitation. Will you be applying for a patent for that ? Will I become famous like Waterwolf ?

you're a genius, that is exactly what it was. You're also correct in that they just skitter on the top. Trout were sipping in the film not taking them on top. I caught a very nice fish on a split...
