Question about Chota wading boots

Im planning on coming in to the shop soon to spend a big bonus check on new waders and boots. I know, those Simms River Tek waders and Chota boots will tear that check up good. Anyway, my question to...

The Hiwassee is COLD!

A great fishing report as usual by Byron today - I can echo Rockys earlier comment on water temps at the Hi. My personal experience over the last few weeks is that the Hi is UNSEASONABLY cold. It's...

Re: Townsend lodging

I bet the Begley's have some suggestions, but I have had great luck with Bearly Rustic cabins. They manage quite a few cabins in and around Townsend. Find them at bearlyrustic.com

Re: Yet another Alabama Flyfisher

Welcome robinma! I'm from Gadsden and don't get up to the Sipsey as much as I should. My buddy dblhaul hits it pretty hard when I'm not dragging him to the Hiwassee or Noontootla. To my recollection,...

Re: Citico Creek

Thanks for the snow pics dblhaul! You guys probably needed Hazel Creek Push Carts to get through that blizzard! You truly are a Psycho Fisher dude. I wish we had been able to hit Tellico back before...

Re: Hazel Creek Push Carts

All in fun RFowler, but most of us know psychofisher.com to be a little "edgy and confrontational". Not for everybody, and not much to do with actual fishing.

Re: More Questions About Wading Abrams

I most definitely would NOT wade Abrams alone - just read my harrowing tale in the other Abrams thread here! Scary to have a big widowmaker tree fall into the gorge almost on top of you. I believe I...

More Questions About Wading Abrams

Is there a good place down the Abrams Falls Trail to drop into the gorge below the Big Shoe so that I can fish my way back upstream? If so, what landmark should I look for?

Re: Abram's Creek Horseshoe

OOPS! Goofed the quote from Paula and my 2-cents worth below... you get the picture. So I'm techno challenged. I spend too much time fishing and not enough time on cool flyfishing forums. Kidding,...

Re: Abram's Creek Horseshoe

Great advice, Hans...

We warn people all the time about the hazards of trying the Big Shoe alone or if leaving too late. *This is a dangerous place...a deep ravine that *has no out, except onward...

Re: Wildlife encounters while fishing

Not to desensitize anyone to the dangers of poisonous snakes in the park, but those "copperheads" in and around the Middle Prong at Tremont are most probably harmless banded water snakes. Often...

Re: Yet another Alabama Flyfisher

I would have never guessed that was a Sipsey fish - unbelievable color on it. I haven't fished up there in two years, but I caught my first trout there! Seems like back then the fish had very little...
