sling pack

I think if you have a decent sized chest, the chest pack just isn't all that practical - at least for me. I've tried the chest pack (small), lumbar pack, and I now use a sling. The sling allows me...

Great Trip

Great pics, and sounds like a wonderful trip. I'm sure someone is going to chime in on your catch:smile:

True

I appreciate your observations JayR, and I agree with your comments regarding TN licensing. I have only been fishing the HI for about 10 years, and over the last couple of years my trips have become...

The HI

There are a lot of factors contributing to the Hi not being what it once was; however, I don't think what you witnessed at a campground is one of the factors.

5 weight - a vote for G. Loomis

I know they're not very popular around here, but I'm using a Loomis NRX LP 5 weight, and love it. It just does everything really well. I can high stick heavy nymph rigs, fish dry flies, and chuck...

Another option

I owned the Chota STL boots 4-5 years ago. Good quality boot for the price. A little on the heavy side (not great for long hikes), and they take a long time to dry; otherwise, no complaints. Just...

spikes

I've been using the alumibite Simms product for a little while now. I like them better than the starcleat. Both products increase traction, but I've found they don't last as long as I'd like, and...

Comp

I watched a few comp guys fish a technical small wild trout stream in north Georgia, and they were not only catching a lot of fish, they were catching large fish. I would much rather chuck...

NetHolster

I switched to a sling pack about two years ago, and haven't used a net since that time. It bothered me at first and I looked for a solution. One solution that was recommended to me was a...

Looks Familiar

I haven't been there in a while, but I would have to guess that's Dukes Creek based on the last two pictures. I'm heading up that way in a few weeks. I hope I can do as well as you did!

Wow!

Those are great looking fish! The two with the distinct red coloration look quite different from the rainbows I usually see on the river. I tried looking closely at the tail-fin, but can't quite...

I'm sure the following study has been reviewed and discussed on this forum in the past: http://www.tn.gov/twra/fish/StreamRiver/tailtrout/BrownTroutReproduction2006.pdf
From a quick glance, it...

small but fun

I've only fished the park a handful of times, and never landed anything big, but my favorite day in the park included this brookie: ...

See if this helps

I'm pretty sure I fished above where you're talking about. I hiked up to where the stream literally was about 24 inches wide dumping into a huge, deep, long pool. That's about the point where the...

Good Report

Great stream, if it's the one I think it is. Did you go up much beyond the falls in your pic? I hiked up there a number of months ago and caught one the nicest wild bows I've ever caught. Good to...
