Yes, the Davidson has a lot to recommend it, and if you had the entire day, I'd say you should visit the Davidson...but for only a half-day's fishing, I think you'd be hard-pressed to do better than...

For catching, mid spring to early summer. For fishing, definitely early-mid fall, just before the "leafers" arrive. From that point through the color peak, it's my camera, not my fly rod,...

Like Stu, I've had the "pleasure"of stumbling upon a copperhead, only it was in the park, and the circumstances were much more akin to castaway's - watch those rocks! :o
