Last time out, I fished a totally unweighted GW as a dropper off an EHC. It sank, it came up with the currents, it was all over the place and the brookies ate it up. The stream I was on had a variety of barely running water to very deep pools and I got hits in all sorts of conditions. There was only one instance where the fish took the dry instead of the GW. I've tried the bead head variety and they work fine but the variability of the unweighted seemed to be quite successful on this particular trip, particularly with the lower water levels.
