You're correct Mboats.
When the hatches are heaviest the bite slows way down.
When there's thousands of naturals, why would they want to hit a brace of man made hook thingies?
But, in the wanes of the hatch, the fishing can be good for trout that are still cleaning up.
Typically, trout are easier to catch on the front or the rear of the hatch then the middle.
You CAN catch trout in the middle of a hatch but your bug and act better be right.
Also- fish to the shade whenever possible.
