Default Re: The muddy Caney report

I fished the Caney last night (8/10) right before the storm hit. Caught several dozen during a 3 hour span in that same area not far from the end of the Nature trail. Most of the fish were in the 10-14 inch range...Bows with good coloration and one 10" brownie. I fished a sz 12 soft hackled prince nymph unweighted just under the film, and didn't change flies the whole time. LDR'd nearly as many fish. The trout would chase the fly and swirl it sometimes 2 or 3 times...TOO MUCH FUN! Fish were rising to those fuzzy white midges...maybe sz 26. Water was still good and cold but nice for wet wading as the air temp was 95 when I got there about 1.5 hrs after they shut off the water. Next time I'll try for a double!
