assuming that it would be the same in Tennessee, back here in Ohio a slot limit is a sizing measure to allow particular fish be kept and others be released. In other words they must fit the slot to be kept, example at some of our lakes bass must be at least 12" but not over 16" (made up numbers) to be kept. Anything under the 12" must be returned and anything over the 16" must be returned.......the fish must fit the "slot" to be kept......hope this helps and is true for Tennessee also.......
