I agree with most of what you wrote, except for the harder to cast part. In my experience, cane is easier to cast. In fact, when I am teaching someone to cast, I usually let them use one of my bamboo rods so they can feel the rod load. In my opinion, I find the faster, stiffer rods harder to cast.
