From the sounds of it, you were in the gorge. One of my absolute favorite places to fish. Last year early in the summer, there was a mixture of brookies and bows in the gorge and as the summer/drought wore on, the brookies evidently migrated to higher ground leaving almost exclusively bows in the parts below the Chimneys trailhead.
I have only been to the gorge once this year and that trip was cut short by a fishing partner that gave out early. Can't wait to get back up there and try some of my favorite spots again.
