I caught over 50 crappie on my fly rod tonight. I was using a crappie streamer I more or less made up. It's about the easiest tie ever.
A clump of white maribou with some crystal flash for the tail. Wrap tinsel silver side out up the hook to the eye. Wrap red thread for the head (about 1/8 the hook shank length).
I use size 6, 8, and 10 for hooks, standard streamer size hooks (the same ones I use for woolie buggers.
That's it for the tie. It takes about 5 minutes to tie it if one is being careful.
I catch bass, bluegill and crappie on these, especially when they are chasing bait fish up agains the shore or stick ups.
