I am speckulating, but many times
when someone who is unconditioned to cold water (like 99% of us) one has a tendency to gasp for air when they hit the cold water. Even if she didn't hit her head, it is still easy to drown this way. It seems her husband got her out of the water and tried to revive, very sad it was unsucessful.
