The grip on a fly rod is slipped on over the smaller end. You would have to take the guides off to do this. can carefully remove the old cork and glue, being careful not to damage the blank. Cork rings are cut in half, each ring sized to its position on the rod and glued in place. Then you sand the bejabbers out of it to whatever shape you want.
