Simple fly to tie
Centuries ago, when I started tying flies, I tried to duplicate an Adams. However, when I got the first one finished, I thought the wing was useless as the trout more than likely won't see it. So..........I tied without the wing. What I have is a tail made from a dark bird feather (I'm cheap), a dubbed body of tan (you can use other colors), and about three wraps of brown or ginger hackle. I have used this fly with great success on the Hiwassee, Tellico, and in the park, along with some smaller out-of-the-way streams. Good tying!
I once caught a trout on the Middle Prong of the LR with a PT made of heavy dark brown button thread! Told you I was cheap!
