I am always curious about new ideas and I was thinking it may be there to reduce snags fighting those big fish or during casting...(?) I thought about doing this with my transom mounted trolling motor. I was thinking of adding a net bag over the top part that would drape down to the top of the transom. My fly line likes to mate
with my trolling motor when I cast from the back of my boat. Stripping baskets are useless for my wild style of casting.
