drodgers- I have never cast the high liner but my first fly rod was bass pro's white river dogwood canyon rod. I didn't have a lot to spend on a rod so the $55 dollar price tag sold me on it. I fished with it for a year and a half or so before upgrading but for the money it was a fine rod and I would still fish with on occasion now if one of the eyelets wasn't missing. I would say for $150 that this rod isn't a bad choice if your wanting something longer than 9'. I don't know if this helps but I hope so.
I'll second that about calling little river though, they may be able to turn you on to something better. Good luck
