What fun it would be to pan for gold
. I think the big issue is the 'Claim'. Most people probably could pan as a hobby; but, once someone starts making some money-it is all over. The City, County, State, Federal, land owner, etc. will put a stop to it. I think there are a few areas where you can get permits/claims to pan for gold.
