If you have a big day planned; I would suggest cleaning your whole rig. Clean the fly line and stretch it out. Also; I like to redress my line with treatment. It helps thwart tangles and dry stripping.

Most petroleum based fly line will gas off after removed from the package and it will eventually degrade. Cleaning the line with caustic cleaning agents can cause this process to accelerate. I just clean mine with a wet cloth. Retreat with a moisture agent to help it hold in the chemical substrate.

A bad idea is to store reels+line in hot areas. I have done this before by storing my reels in my outbuilding and it dried them up quickly and it burned in some heavy memory loops.
