Default Springtime on Sycamore Creek

I am a little late posting but last week I finally decided to head to the Cherokee National Forest to one of my favorite wild trout streams. Ironically located just a few hundred yards from the Tellico Hatchery lies one of the best wild trout streams in the area, Sycamore Creek. I will never understand why they stock hatchery trout in such a nice freestone stream (Tellico River) but assume it is all about money and tourism. I rarely fish the Tellico, sometimes in the winter I will give it a few casts looking for a rare wild brown or I will hike up to the North Carolina side and catch a few wild bows. I hit the trail and hiked up a few miles. When I finally wet my flies the fish were very eager. Every likely run contained multiple fish. I would say that the bows to brookies ratio was 50/50. Many times I caught both in the same hole. Here are some pics of a great day on a small stream.
