Hi Folks, my name is Don, a "halfback" who's just recently settled in Knoxville. My wife and I were living in Florida for the last three years, having moved there from New Jersey. However, Florida soon lost it's luster and we decided to find a new place to live. We visited the Smokies last year and fell in love with East Tennessee.
Byron, I've been a regular visitor on your website since we first visited the Smokies and I've really enjoy reading your daily reports. Your appreciation and enthusiasm for where you live and work is inspirational.
The Catskill streams were my former stomping grounds, especially the Beaverkill, the East and West branches of the Delaware and the Esopus. The streams near LRO remind me very much of those waters. I haven't had much luck yet but just being out on the streams is wonderful.
I've fished the Clinch twice recently without any luck (although I lost a nice fish by the dam yesterday). Tailwater fishing is a new experience for me. I've got boxes of flies for Catskill hatches and I've quickly realized how useless they are. Got to get used to using midges and scuds.
I look forward to spending many years learning Tennessee waters.
