    Question Clinch Flows?

    Quick question-
How long does it take the water (2 generators) to get down to the jail? Want to go out tonight, but don't want to go swimming...
    Thanks
    Jamie

Fishing is not a matter of life and death. It's more important than that.

I've heard around 4 hours, but I've never timed it.
May you fish more than you wish for.

when you go in, pick a rock or stick or something that easily identifiable and barely sticking out of the water. when it starts nearing 4 hours check back occasionally, when it goes under, head on out. it's not like a wall of water or anything, but it can rise pretty fast.

Looks like there is a one hour 1 generator run from 5-6am. How does this affect the fishing level at the Jail? I am assuming the water will be unwadable at 10:30 AM but when should it be back down to wading levels? Thanks so much?

Depends on how long the water was off beforehand. I have fished through the pulse many times before if the generators had been off for around 6 hours before the pulse. That one hour pulse is enough water to refill the weir pool and bring the levels downstream up maybe 6 inches. But I have had some phenomenal fishing down toward 61 while fishing through the pulse. However, it isn't exactly for the weary. One time TVA decided to not follow through with their schedule and it kept coming up on me, so I had quite an interesting exit.

The two isn't his problem, it is the 1 that came before the 2. It takes about 5 hours for 1, and about 4.5 for two.

The pulse is nothing to fret over, most folks won't ever notice it. Sometimes the fishing can get really good or sometimes it can get really bad. Never can tell with the pulse and it's effects.

One thing on any tailwater, do not trust TVA, and do not push your luck with the water. More then one has bit the dust in the Clinch rolling the dice on water flows. And myself and Mr. Bone have fished more then a couple over the years out of the river. Be careful, and remember there is always another day, and at the end of the day they are just a fish.
