    Default Hatchmaster

I'm reading Steve Raymond's book, Blue Upright, and started looking around the web for info on the Hatchmaster style of dry flies. Anyone tie these? The fly is nothing but a single feather for the tail, body and wing, plus hackle. Intriguing.

I've seen these on the web. I think my son may have a link to some videos... if he doesn't see this and respond, I'll ask him.

    Default Two Feather May

I found one on flyanglersonline.com called the Two Feather May. It seems to differ somewhat from Raymond's tie, in that it has a body with an interesting use of feather fibers in addition to the extended feather body.

The trick looks to be finding breast feathers of an appropriate size. Some commercial flies use the extended body but don't use the tips of the breast feather for the wing.

A video would be great if you have one.

    Default One feather fly

Here's a couple links to the one I had seen. It probably isn't what you're looking at, but take a look. The first is a step-by-step web page anf the second is a YouTube video of the same fly...

    Hope this helps some.

    Default CDC One Feather fly

That's not the same fly but a very interesting concept also. I use the FFOhio videos frequently, in fact I watch them on my iPod while traveling etc.

I'll try to post a photo to show the Hatchmaster style.
