    Default Nice Brown

    David,
I can see I am going to have to head west and try the Cumberland and the Caney. It seems as if you really get into some nice fish. What about winter fishing on the above mentioned river?

This is probably the best bass I'm going to land this month.

Caught just before dark. Pond in Northern Kentucky. 7wt rod. 3X tippet.
Fly - yellow 'gurgle' pop with red maribou tail.

Here's a shot of part of the pond.

    And looking acrose the lake.

Winter fishing is great because it really cuts down on the crowds. One of my best days on the Caney in the last year was a day where the temp never got over 22 or 23 degrees. I was the only one on the river and enjoying every minute of it...

Teach me! Haha I want a slice of the pie! I couldn't imagine wading when it's that cold, I'd be wearing so many layers that I couldn't fit in my waders without tearing them... I'll definitely be fishing this winter, though.

I find the same to be true everywhere I go in the winter, a couple of years ago I fished the Watagua after a deep snow. It was one of the most beautiful times spent all the water, it was so still out there. I will have to try it this winter.
