    Default Big Creek (Campsites?)

I am thinking about a spring camping trip to the Walnut Bottom area of Big Creek. I would be looking to stay at campsite #36 or #37 just wondering if anyone has been in that area and prefers one campsite over another. I have never been up there and just looking I would probably go to the one that is farthest up stream since that is the section I most want to explore. But I would be curious if one happens to be a better site than another. Thanks for any help.

Been looking at that area too. Kenneth Wise in Hiking Trails of the Great Smoky Mountains says both are nice. Never been to either, but 36 accommodates horses. That might be a consideration if you're going over a weekend.

They are only about 400 yards apart. Without a horse you'll have to stay at 36. Beautiful campsite and easy walking.

don't miss the rock house, midnight hole and mouse creek falls........and if you get to lowgap...go up about 250-300 yards and find a small graveyard (not on the park list)
I started with nothing, and I have most of it left.

Sam, i've gotta say that it seems like you always know some off the trail hidden gem that only comes from spending lots of time in the woods. I respect that and enjoy hearing the info you have to offer. By the way, is the Glades you call home the area in Crabtree?

the glades is the arts/crafts community in gatlinburg....and i have had a lot of help learning the "off the beaten track" places....but lots of park time is necessary...thank you for the kind words
