My top tailwater flies would depend on what tailwater we were talking about but various midges would always be high on the list...

    Default Flies

    1. Gangsta Midge

    2. Parker's Pupae

    3. Sowbug

    4. Flashback PTN

    5. Closed cell foam CDC Half & Half

    6. IF the tailwater has caddis.... X-caddis in whatever colors are hatching

    7. And if Seagull is around....Pine squirrel Christmas bugger

None of the flies are what you think they are, but oooohhh so important to me on tailwaters.
I am a great admirer of spectator sports, especially on television; it keeps the riffraff off the trout streams.

RED RUMMM, RED RUMMM...man thats supposed to be secret but its a deadly pattern for sure of Varmits concoction - it has a dedicated row in the flybox...

Though I've not the honor of knowing Eddie George, his nymph is a heck of a pattern thats killer in the Smokies - great alone or as a dropper off a thunderhead... will have to try on a tailwater...
