    I was wanting to post a fun thread on everybody's top 5 tailwater flies

    1. olive/red zebra midge

    2. stripper midge

    3. CDC tan caddis

    4. BHPT

    san juan worm
    cdc comparadun (seasonal at to what kind)
    thread midge
    wooly bugger (olive, beadhead)

    Small size 24 Black Fly (South Holston special)

    Default Top Tailwater Flies

    I have found the following to be effective --

    1. Tim's Trout Candy (Tim Page's own design fly) beneath a San Juan worm with strike indicator above the SJ worm.

    2. My own design small woolly buggers. I have been tying my own black and green WB on size 10 - 14 hooks with gold glass bead heads and three different colors of Sulky Holoshimmer (from Joanns) for the tail. They have been work extremely well this winter on the stocked trout. (I caught 20 RBs in two hours on Friday, for example.)

    A thread midge is just a midge hook wrapped with thread... Or a zebra midge without the wire.
