I decided to call it a good weeks work yesterday about 2:00 and head to the mountains for the afternoon. I swung by LRO's and let them sell me a new fly box, that ended up being too big to fit in my chest pack. Then I headed to one of my favorite roadside streams.
I'd fished this same stream earlier in the week and caught three. So I didn't really have high expectations. Well, what a day. I fished from about 3:30 to 6:00 and I know I caught in the neighborhood of 20 fish.
They were greedy and I would get a fish to rise on almost every good drift. Many came on a parachute adams, with almost as many being caught on this;
At around 6:00 I started seeing wet boot prints on the rocks and thought about moving somewhere else, but I decided that would just make me greedy. So, I wrapped it up and headed home. As I headed up the road, I saw 2 guys and a lady just getting off the stream, so I stopped to see how they did. It was their boot prints I was seeing. They also had a good day. Heading back, I thought I might swing back by LRO's and exchange the fly box and give them a report, but they must close early.
It ought to be a great weekend for those of you heading this direction.
