    Default Hiwassee Flow Travel Time

Hello gang. I'm new here and new to fly fishing. I'm finding this to be a great resource for how-to info. Thanks for all your wisdom and sharing.

I have a question: When they discharge at Appalachia dam, how long does it take water to travel to Big Bend parking area? Childers Creek parking area?

    Thanks again for the info.

The water on two generators will come up at Big Bend approximately an hour after they begin at the powerhouse. It should be downa t Childers Creek in another half an hour or so after that.

One thing to keep in mind. The TVA usually ramps the water on the HI, meaning they turn on one turbine for one hour, then follow it with the second turbine.

The second turbine will catch the one turbine flows at Big Bend in about an hour. Reliance/Childers is about two hours.

Now all this changes if it's just the low water pulse your looking at. In that case add about 30 minutes or so to the numbers and you'll have your flow times.
