    Default My First Rainbow

Well, I had a few hours to leave the office before an evening meeting so I ran down to Paint Creek once again. I hit the water at 4:00 and at 6:00 I pulled out a 12" Rainbow Trout.

This is my first caught on a fly. I was running an Orange Elk Hair Caddis with a Pheasent Tail behind it. I actually caught two fish on one cast because the bow his the caddis and a Redbelly Sunfish grabbed the Pheasent Tail. I have caught plenty of creek chubs and another good sized redbelly sunfish. I even caught a 6-8" bow on my first outing but was using 6X tippet and when I put my hand on him he jerked and broke the line.

This one is going into my belly.

I will take pictures when I get home to clean him.

I did not check the stomach. I should have done that. My pregnant wife who was giving me grief about making her sick cleaning that fish distracted me. I was trying to get all of the offensive parts discarded as quickly as possible. Never again will I let the well being of my wife distract me from the important task at hand!

Yes you will, and if you don't she will let you know about it.

Congrats on the nice fish. We hope to see many more posts and pictures from you.
