    Christmas Wishes

    May the presents you net
    Include that rotary vice
    And that special fly rod
And a new reel would be quite nice

And for some we hope for snow
That their season will be entire
As they reach in the present creel
While sitting by a glowing fire

    May the moon reflect light
    Off the new fallen snow
    As Santa sweeps down
    Fulfilling the dreams from below

    May the stars bring joy
As you walk in the quiet peace
    This white wrapped gift provides
May the souls gentle calming never cease

    May your family and friends
    Gather and feast and play
As the warmth of the season
Creates memories that never fade away

May we all reflect on the greatest gift
The one given in fullness of love
To erase our sins and redeem our souls
By a perfect gift from heaven above.

I don't live just to fish, but I want to fish just as long as I live.

    Paula,

Probably a little mawkish, but I just did not have enough time to make it as fishy as I would have liked. Have a great Christmas.

Don--As Lawrence Welk used to say, "wunderbar." Did you write the poem? If so, it's truly impressive.

I can't match such lyrical loveliness, but I will offer a few similar thoughts, based on a lifetime filled with Smoky Mountain memories, for each and every member of this forum as well as visitors.

May the season bring you the sweetness of a cup of syllabub.

May your Yule log burn long and bright.

May the glories of the season bless you through the rest of the year and right on until Old Christmas (Jan. 6).

May your mind (and perhaps your home) be filled with visions of mountain loveliness such as running cedar, galax, mistletoe, cedar, and spruce.

May the season bring back thoughts of simpler days and simpler ways, along with powerful feelings for the deeper meaning of Christmas.

Finally, may 2010 bring you a creel bulging with fine memories along with more than a fair share of tight lines and fine times.

    Paula, Jeff, and Jim,

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I did write the poem. I like to dabble with the words. Jim, your message was poetry as well.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

I'm wishing for a slower year and much more fishing in 2010. Time is going way too fast for my taste. But, as they say, time's fun when you're having flies.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the LRO family.
