I sampled it in early November and caught several in the 19-20" range. Many were parked on the bottom and unmoveable. I did best stripping wooly-boogers through likely spots, getting them to move.

I fished there a few years ago on Christmas Eve. It was so cold down in there, I actually walked across the stream in a few spots as it was frozen over.

I definitely must have just been too far down stream.

I fished no further than 2 miles down from the upper entrance. A habit developed when the road was blown out by a flood several years ago forcing fishermen to park and walk before repairs were made. It seems many of the questionable fishermen concentrate on the deep holes known to hold trout and keep 'em pretty spooked up. Try throwing a wooly booger through some of the flatter waters. Keep your eyes open for trout moving or following your fly, revealing their position.

Thank you Grampus. I hope to go back after Christmas when we have an overcast day to try to find one of those browns I have read about. I do not think I know Doug, but I am better with faces. I live right on the edge of Cosby at the Sevier County line in Rocky Flats and usually do not get out of the house at all unless I am fishing or headed to work in Gatlinburg.

I talked to two different guys from the shop that both said we were too far down. Still some pretty fish though.

Yea, that seems to be the general consensus. Next time we will go on upstream then. If the water ever goes back down that is.
