Question Question on a few flies for the Smokies.

I was wondering if anyone has fished the colored hatchery pellet or the egg flies in the Smokies with any luck? I also have a friend who ties me up a lot of yellow jacket, bumble bee, catalpa worm, cricket, and grasshopper flies for my panfishing down here. They just tear the fish up on my honey holes. Wondering how they might work on trout up there this spring.

TightLines--I'd have to see the flies before delivering a full opinion, and of course the final proof is in the "on the stream" pudding. That being said, terrestrials of various types can and do work well in the summer and early fall, and yellow is a magical color.

Tightlines, I've never fished an egg attractor pattern in the park, but I'd bet anybody $20 that I could catch fish with it on a nice summer day.

Jim is dead on with the terrestrial recommendations. One of my favorite setups is to drift a dropper of some sort under a grasshopper pattern. I've also had a lot of luck fishing a yellow jacket pattern... and a lot of bad luck getting stung by those bastards! They're all over the park, so I'm certain that's a good fly to use in the summer!
I got no style, I'm strictly roots.

The Smoky's are plum full of sweat bee's, bumble bees, yellow jackets, wasps, Japanese hornets(those big bastards) and the like. I suspect that trout make a meal out of them more often than not. It is always worth a shot to try a new pattern, you never know, **** they might even name it after you some day!!!
