I don't recall seeing any on the Clinch in many years, but I have access to some property on the SoHo where we woke up to turkeys in the field every morning. That does make for some very enjoyable camping to go along with the fantastic fishing.
Got skunked again this morning before work. I guess I'll try again tomorrow.
Byron ever needs someone to call, just let me know, i would be happy to.
Figure I will revive this old thread.
Got one on opening morning. Talked to him for probably 20 minutes before he came around the corner of the thicket and stepped out into the open field 25 yards away. 21 lbs, 10.5" beard, and 1-1/8" spurs. By far the most fun I have ever had hunting. What a rush it was when he finally responded to my calls and then I kept working him closer until I cold see him. He was accompanied by another jake and some hens. If I wasn't hooked before, I am now.

Travis -- Great report and photos! Hope to see ya midging upstream from me in a few weeks. I haven't wet a line since early last fall.
That's a good looking bird! Congrats.
aarrgghhhh, i sold off a complete camera system & bought into another brand, the 50mm lens just won't cut it shooting our flock on the farm
Got mine Sunday. 21.5 lbs, 10 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Lots of birds around but they're still tough to figure out.
Joel, did ya shoot him or choke him to death
