Shoulda tied on a big woolie booger and gone for a snag!
I got no style, I'm strictly roots.

You are correct sir. They actually walked right past the camper.

I don't recall seeing any on the Clinch in many years, but I have access to some property on the SoHo where we woke up to turkeys in the field every morning. That does make for some very enjoyable camping to go along with the fantastic fishing.

Default Spring 2011 season is here

Figure I will revive this old thread.

Got one on opening morning. Talked to him for probably 20 minutes before he came around the corner of the thicket and stepped out into the open field 25 yards away. 21 lbs, 10.5" beard, and 1-1/8" spurs. By far the most fun I have ever had hunting. What a rush it was when he finally responded to my calls and then I kept working him closer until I cold see him. He was accompanied by another jake and some hens. If I wasn't hooked before, I am now.

Got mine Sunday. 21.5 lbs, 10 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Lots of birds around but they're still tough to figure out.
