    Default fishin' and flowers

Not yet rattlesnake weather, but fish and flowers go well together.

I believe the flower is a showy orchis. really nice clusters along porters creek trail. the spec below was one of cosby's finest, 1 of the many caught that day.

Yes--that's a showy orchis, and I'm delighted that others realize that, as that sage of the sport Arnold Gingrich once wrote, "the fishing is only part of it." This season of rising trout blended with sprng beauties, bloodroot, bluets, showy orchis, jack-in-the-pulpit, trout lilies, trailing arbutus, all the many species of trillium (I think 13 are native to the Park), and so much more is truly a time of wonder. The wise angler pauses and ponders along the trail, enjoying a reawakening world full of loveliness. Thanks for sharing.
