    Default Old Town Canoe

Found an old town Saranac 146xt angler edition for just under $350. I just wondered if anyone knew much about this canoe and would have some input. I don't have any experience with a canoe so I don't want to waste my money. Been wanting a canoe for my wife and I and found this one on sale. Thanks for any input.

Thats a really nice looking canoe for $350.
I'd say if it had 1/2 the features of the 2011 model it would still be well worth it.

I was surprised that it was a 2011 model. I seem to recall that they used to have a canoe by this name years ago, but when I researched it in Old Towns retired models list, it did not appear. Maybe it was removed from the retired list when the name was used again, or maybe I am wrong about it being used before. Silvercreek

From what I could find this is a new model and for some reason its not on the main website, but an info page can be found. The boat in question is a new boat and not used. Its not exactly what I was looking for but just wondered if this was a deal I could not pass up. It seems to be a little heavy and shorter than I was hoping for.

Ever since Johnson Outdoors has take over Old Town you see lots of these types of issues come up. JO oftens semi-private labels canoes (especially poly) for sporting goods stores such as Dicks. A year or two later they re-release the model under the Old Town label.

Another example is the Field and Stream Kaynoe which is labeled as a Old Town Discovery 119.
