Default The Price of Fishing ( AKA: A Day on the Nantahala River)

We had a nice trip to the Nantahala River last Thursday. A big fish, some nice browns and some good company. And evil cookies. Read all about it: http://owljones.blogspot.com/2010/11...f-fishing.html

The fish Flyman thinks is a 12 incher. lol

    Smile Nice!

Great report! I was up there this weekend. I concur to your report. The fishing is great! Bummer on the big fish lost, but it still looked like a great time.

Flyman, WHAT A GREAT IDEA! I like the ones that look like a little reel. You know, I was thinking the other day that I'd love to exchange gifts with you this year! Where do I send yours? I have the perfect gift for you. In all seriousness, why don't you send me an email. I'm sure you can find it from my blog page. I'd PM you here, but as you know it's disabled. I'd like to find out just what I did to get under your skin so much and if there's something I can do to help you get over it?

That said, since you've put some doubt in my mind as to whether or not I measured it correctly, I remeasured it this morning. Just to make sure I didn't get it wrong. The fish is between 22 and 24 inches. My index finger is exactly in line with the fish and the first two segments are 2 inches long. Considering the tail is curved a bit and not pulled together at the end (which is how gamefish are legally measured in GA, not sure about NC) the trout in question is between 22 and 24 inches long. This is about as accurate as you can get without that tape measure your getting me for Christmas.

But honestly, I've never been much for worrying about how long a trout is, or how much a bass weighs. It's more about just being out there and enjoying a day on the water and less about how big the fish are, because I'm not one who catches big fish anyway. I'd love to tangle with some of the wild monsters that Ian Rutter finds on the end of his line, but I'm just not that kind of fisherman. So, when I get a rather large trout, it's pretty cool to me if for no other reason than the rarity of the event. You being snide about it just makes it even that much more fun.

To the rest of you guys: thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I said I'd buy you a tape measure for Christmast and I've found the perfect one for you.

I give up. You'll understand why I don't respond in the future to your harassment, as I am forced for the first time on LRO to use the "ignore" feature. Sometimes, you just don't like people. I get it. Have a nice day.
