Default im going to cades cove to fish abrams creek.....i hope

i must go fishing or i will go crazy!!!

im gunna try and get to the mill creek trail i believe and try spring creek and Abrams creek tomorrow or friday for sure depending on work....

i know that the water temps are higher there but i still expect it to be slow but we all know its not catching fish that matters

i was going to run a double nymph.... stone fly and something else maybe a telico or BHPT on top of that about a foot apart and drag it across the bottom. Will i need some sinkers? i dont have any but i will be running by LRO first...also any other necessities?

what kind of gloves do you recommend?

is this my best bet to land a few bows? or are there better opportunities?

i might drag some family members who will want to hike so that is another plus for Cades Cove
there is a reason they dont call it "catching"

You might see me there tomorrow. If you see a guy fishing and if there is a grey tundra at the falls trailhead it will be me. If you do see me, stop by, I always enjoy meeting guys from the board. As far as your question goes, abrams may not be the most productive fishing, due to the fact that the spring creek section especially can be hard to fish. Sure is fun though. I would use shot, I like to bump the bottom in the winter. I thin the stone is a good up fly, however if the tellico doesnt catch fish go to a pheasant tail or smaller prince. Good luck!

You might think about some midges...most streams in the Park have decent midge hatches all winter...

You better watch your footing and take a change of clothes. Abrams is the slickest of the slick if you know what I mean...

    Big Max,

This is my very favorite picture of a trout from the park. It was taken a couple of years ago after catching this bow in Spring Creek. The air temp when I got there was 26 and the water temp was 52. I caught this on a Quasimoto nymph. The gloves I got at LRO - you should see them there. They've been great the times I've worn them.
