    Default Traveler vs. Presentation 2000

Looking to purchase my first vise and was wondering if the Presentation 2000 was worth the extra money. Would rather spend more up front as opposed to upgrading later on, if the extras are worth it.

    So....... is it?

It would depend on what patterns you intend to tie, if it were basic trout, panfish or warmwater flies, i'd go with the Traveler, if you want to tie larger saltwater or get into some advanced flies for trout, i'd look at the 2000.

    knik-

I looked at both the Traveler and the Presentation vises about a year ago when I was looking for a vise. Personally, I didn't see much difference in the vises themselves, only that the Presentation was more money. A nice thing about the Renzetti's is that you can swap out the jaws to go to to large saltwater flies.

I talked with Hugh Hartsell since we know each other, and that he ties a lot of flies for himself, and his clients (me being one of them). Based on Hugh's personal recommendation, I went with the Traveler and I've been happy with it immensely.

I recently purchased the Traveler, and I tie both saltwater and trout flies. Since 99% of my saltwater flies are 2/0 or less I went with the standard jaws in it (you can get a saltwater version that will work with the bigger flies, but you loose some on the small end). I have been extremely happy with the vice, and about the only drawback I can see is that tying extremely long patterns or a lot of clouser patterns can be challenging, but if that is what you are looking for they make a version of the traveler that has the straight jaws for clousers. Mine has tied flies from size 16 to 2/0 with no problem. I have really enjoyed the vice.
