    Default OT...really dumb visitor

last thursday, people came into sugarlands and reported a jeep just off cove mountain trail....seemed preposterous, but they had pics.....there it was....some cowboy had gone around old barracades and was gonna go from off ski mountain road to cove mountain trail, back down to cataract falls....he made it about a mile until he came to multiple blowdowns, tried to turn around and slid off the trail into a no win position....the pictures also included multiple empty beer cans.....many empty cans
not including what it cost to get his jeep out of there, fines may come to up to $3000.00...just another day in paradise
I started with nothing, and I have most of it left.

and we wonder why there are no rangers in the backcountry. They are too busy dealing with frontcountry fools like this.

Yeah we always say "there's never a ranger around when you need one" but I think in this case "There's never an angry, hungry bear around when you need one" is more appropriate...

this is interesting as i just hiked cove mountain trail on sunday..........i had seen the tire marks----thought it was interesting as at some points the trail narrows down to less than an axle length.........i was wondering what sorta vehicle it was---i was thinking a 4 wheeler, but the tread marks were more of tires........

and did see some beer cans (thought they were just some random everday beercans) down a bit but no other signs of trying to tow this vehicle out or anything......

also, saw a bunch of big ole bear paw prints in the snow up near-ish the tower.........

We were once behind a bus on the Motor Trail just north of Gatlinburg. The signs warn you, but like someone else posted, you can't fix stupid. We caught up to the bus on the way out, past all the attractions within, and they had just cleared a small wooden and steel bridge. The people inside cheered. We eased by them on the right.....

not five minutes later ( driving slowly, doing some sight-seeing) we came to a sharp left-hander with a huge overhang. There was no way that bus was going to make this one. We've often wondered how they got out of that one-way situation. Obviously, it could not have been without some help from law enforcement of some sort. It costs money to be an idiot, and hopefully it costs the idiots more than you and I most times.

    Hope you packed these out...

All we can do is tell a ranger if one can be found and try to pick up after our moronic neighbors.

Prohibitive signs are a fact of life for a smokies visit and with good reason! Based on the number of violations I have personally witnessed I can't help but think that the high rates of illiteracy we so often hear about have permeated many visitors to the park. Or more simply, can't you read (the signs)?
