I recommend getting you a landmark on the Nances Ferry that you can see when the water is at lower levels. For instance, up from the first big set of riffles there is a big log in the river (left side). When I see a branch of that log sticking a foot or so above the water, the river is lower, then I keep an eye on it occasionally to see if the level has changed. If it disappears altogether it's best to get to the side of the river or out altogether.
