    Default Another Video: Clinch River

Sorry about the audio. I am still working on figuring out the YouTube Setup. You will notice many midge pupa emerging in this video, a spotted bass chasing a small trout, etc.

I am working with filters in my video editing program to enhance the clarity and to remove most of the white light. I actually have this video rending in HD at the moment.

I hope you enjoy this raw version...

    WOW!

That's a crazy number of fish feeding within the camera view... high density spot I suppose and well chosen.

Your videos are dispelling too many of my "notions" about trout behavior and it is disturbing me after 40 years fly fishing. These trout seem to be very active under the water during a hatch where many are eating at the surface.... swimming about AS OPPOSED TO SETTING IN GENERALLY ONE SPOT AND CONTINUOUSLY RISING IN A SPECIFIC SPOT AS I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT!

SHAWN, thank you for your efforts even though I might start losing sleep after seeing your video on trout behavior.

You are on your way to becoming THE TROUT MYTH BUSTER!

    Corbo-

I wondered the same thing about the trout's behavior in the water. They weren't holding like every fly flinger magazine, etc said they're supposed to do! Maybe, we've had it all WRONG for years & years. Trout do move around.

Shawn- I'd like your opinion on what we saw because you were there at the water. Did your camera agitate the fish to moving around? Maybe not, because they were feeding on nymphs, and I think if they were agitated, they would have run for cover.

As Corbo said, these myths maybe dying fast!

I'm wondering if the activity of those fish is a function of the depth and flow of the water they were in...my guess is that they might have been more active in a deeper, slower section of water since they have more "protection" from the depth and don't have to expend as much energy (from the slower flow) to take food.

In a faster, shallower section of water they might hold in an area where they didn't have to expend alot of energy, which gave them protection (behind a rock) and where the food came to them.

Just a theory...Shawn can tell us more from his first hand account.

JoelO;94090, May I suggest you order a copy of the Underwater World of Trout...(?) You can get all three-dvds for $20 at the moment. It is probably the BEST fly fishing-informational video I have ever watched. And I have about 50 dvds of fly fishing and a couple hundred videoclips on my Patriot Box. I watched it through the first time and took notes the second time. This video series gave me some great insight in to targeting trout and finding feeding ranges.

Some of my new video is absolutely amazing. I will try and post additional footage this week.
