Default Middle Prong & Shining Rock: Info needed

Plan is to drop a car at Daniel Boone Camp, drive over to Sunburst recreation area and start up the middle prong. Going to connect to Shining Rock via the art loeb. Plan on starting down into the east prong around Shining Rock Gap. We've alotted 3 nights in the backcountry and know that this is going to be some hard hiking, especially with heavy packs.

    Questions...
I've done Daniel Boone camp to Cold Mountain summit and was amazed by the # of people on the trail. Should I expect to see quite a few people on the backcountry blue lines?
Can this trip be done in 2 nights with limited morning and evening fishing?
Most people are telling me I can expect all 3 species...is this true?

Feel free to email me if you don't care to respond on a public forum.
    Thanks,
    Cody

Little East Fork...aka Daniel Boone was wiped out several years ago '03 - '04 by floods and it has never fully recovered. The lower end has seen some browns migrating up from the lake at Daniel Boone. The brooke has been able to survive but are slow in coming back. Both the Big and Little East fork are really hurting for water. I was on the Big East yesterday and was shocked at how low the water is. You can expect browns, rainbows and specs (up high ) on the Big East. The middle prong is almost all specs and I'd say there you will be hard pressed to make this trip in 2 days without killing yourself.....Be careful

Can I have your stuff if you die? I'd take an extra day and fish one of the tribs of the Big East Fork if I was you.....hint, hint

    Default Brief Report

We had a great 3 day 2 night adventure in the shining rock & middle prong wilderness this past weekend. It was quite the adventure. Got lost for about 2 hours in a rhodo thicket full of yellow jackets right out of the gate. Finally found our way down to a stream and found some nice locals swimming that showed us the way. Most of our time was spent in the Shining Rock Wilderness on the Big East, and some of it's smaller feeder streams. We got rained on for about 3 hours Saturday and couldn't find a campsite, or even a decent place to set up a tarp to take shelter in the rugged terrain.

    Here are a few pictures...

Thanks for all the help and advice.

I was thinking of heading that way this coming weekend and thought about swinging by the ranger station to say hi.
