Default Upper Clinch (weir dam) vs Peach Orchard

My Brother and I have been fishing the Clinch the past month a lot and we have had more success below the big dam and weir dam. We have a canoe that we go out on in peach orchard, but do not have much success. We usually do well with olive and black zebra midges size 18, 20. We have also have done well using Parachute Adams below the weir dam. I was wondering if there was any advise for the peach orchard area? We have only been fly fishing for about a year now and still pretty new too it.

Here are some picture of some decent trout we have caught over the past month.

Be very careful from Massengill Bridge to I-75 Bridge. I see/hear of most flipped canoes in that area. Also; known by many as the boneyard with all the stuff thrown off the bridge and the lay of certain trees/entanglements.

Thanks for the heads up! We will keep that in mind next time we float.

Peach Orchard.....the fish are keyed into the Ephemerella hatch that's been going on this past 6 weeks....they could care less about a french fry MIDGE going by when the double decker with cheese is going by...NYMPH or Dun of the Sulphur. Later as the sulphurs peter out then it's back to the same old midge, scud, rock worm, sowbug, cranefly, snails, etc, etc standard fare for them.

Weir to Norris......midge fest year round. With isopodas SCUDS/Sowbugs thrown in for good measure..Why? The water is too cold IMO for a mayfly to exist that close to the dam. I have NEVER seen a mayfly above the weir since 1986. So save your PTNs until you hit Miller's and below.

I am a great admirer of spectator sports, especially on television; it keeps the riffraff off the trout streams.
