My buddy's bachelor party was up on the Watauga this past weekend, and we got to do a little fishing while up there. Definitely did not set the water on fire, but neither did anybody else. Managed 8 on Friday in about 3 hours of solid fishing, and none on Saturday morning in about an hour of water time.
Friday saw me catching fish on a variety of flies as nothing was very consistent. Caught a couple swinging soft hackles in the riffles, two on a #22 red zebra, one on a #20 brassie, one on a caddis pupae, and two on a #24 midge dry. Of course the midge dry was the most exciting and yielded the only brown of the trip. I hope to upload the pics from my camera this afternoon and will link to some here, after reviewing for incriminating photos of course...
Had quite a few boats drifting through, but not as bad as I have seen before. Nice time to be out with wonderful weather, decent fishing, beautiful scenery, and a bunch of fun guys. A good time was had by all.
Really wanted to make it over to the South Holston when leaving at noon on Saturday, but had too many things to do at home.
