Default TU chapter that supports GSMNP

I know one of the chapters of TU is involved with the park as far as providing some funding, volunteers, etc. I thought it was the Maryville chapter but not sure. Can one of the members of this forum please advise and provide a name and address so I can send the amount of my TU membership fees directly to the chapter I mentioned? TU national doesn't do a thing in my state with regards to trout habitiat and my "local" chapter has always been over 200 hundred miles away. I'm done with TU national.

    Thanks!

    Default Little River Chapter

Whitefeather - The Little River Chapter of TU works very closely with the GSMNP and is probably the one you are looking for. They were the primary organizing group for Troutfest (taking a hiatus this year, but should be back in 2014), and do a lot of work with the brook trout restoration, acid deposition, and other such efforts in the Park. Their website is http://lrctu.org and I'm sure they would be more than happy to welcome you as a new member. Of course, they also took me in as a member, so I don't really know what that says about their standards (or lack thereof).
Fly fishing - it's cheaper than a bass boat!

Thanks buddy. I'll go to their website and see. Sounds like they are the ones I am looking for. And you are top drawer, don't kid me! Hope you've been well and enjoyed a nice Christmas. Looking forward to a new year and hopefully some time on the park waters this spring. Thanks again!

I followed your lead Whitefeather and signed up with the Little River Chapter.
Even though I live in Alabama I consider GSM as my home Trout waters. Lots
of Bass but very few Trout.

    Principal,

I know what you mean. I do too, although I don't get to fish it as much as I'd like. Like your state, Indiana has some nice bass. The lake I live on here used to. But the Indiana "flatlanders" have pretty much screwed that up, with all their lake shore beautification projects. No natural habitat left. But we still a have a feeder bayou that does and an eight pound bass or even a two pound blugill (bream) puts the warp in an eight foot flyrod that the smaller trout down south can't. But many times harder to catch IMO. I caught the trout bug many years ago and they are special and challenging in their own right. I've caught some nice browns down there in the park that are par with our bass as well as some big brookies who strayed from the reservation waters. And river fishing has always been my forte. Hope to get down there sometime this spring and visit my "home" waters again.
