    Default Cherokee national forest fishing?

I live in TX, but you don't seem to hear much about fishing in the Cherokee national forest. Is it comparable to the national park? Better? Worse? Differences?

Husker, I would love to share some personal experiences I have had fishing the upper Cherokee National Forest, but am a bit strapped for time at the moment. Please send me a personal e-mail and I'll be happy to share some tidbits with you.

I will say I caught my very first trout on a fly in Beaverdam Creek and my first brown on Laurel Fork Creek above Dennis Cove. In the meantime, here are a few links that should be helpful:

The southern portion is nice. If you fish the stocked water you might be crowded on weekends. If you fish the non stocked waters you will probably not see another soul.

The Appalachian Chapter of TU has a nice summary of streams around the Tellico area. Most are covered in several books so they really are not a big secret. The artificial lure, single hook regulations and easier access on the stocked streams keep the crowds away from most of these. http://appalachiantu.org/

Difference vs the park? For me, about a 1/2 hour in driving. Beyond that the roads and trails in the park are better maintained (one is a park, the other a working forest).
