    Talking Caught my age

Nathan and I went on an adventure on Friday. We were supposed to go fishing Thursday, but the weather forecast was gloomy and I just wasn't feeling it. Friday I was ready to go and picked up Nathan and headed to the mountains.

Was pleasantly surprised to see 10 inches on the gauge. It had rained pretty good the night before and I felt a few drops still dripping from the tree. It was especially humid and felt like a rainforest as we started hiking in.

When I was at Snowbird Creek the week before I sent Nathan a picture of the huge Stoneflies that Snowbird is famous for. He mentioned seeing similar sized bugs recently as he was gathering aquatic insects with a kick net in Sam's Creek (He has research permit to do this...Don't try at home) and he decided to tie up an imitation. This size 6 fly is a beast of a dry that I will name the Monster Never-sink Stimulator! Since he gave me a few I decided why not give them a try. I had this huge pink weenie thing that came with some used equipment I bought a long time ago so I tied them both on and hit the stream. Second cast a huge fish (10") slammed it but I missed the set. A minute later I missed another but he got foul hooked in the gut. Not the best way to catch a fish, but it was a start.

Lovely water not too many fish. Although I know some guides take clients here in the lower section.

    Nathan working some nice water

Anyone know what this is? A fungus? Insect eggs? If anyone knows please chime in as I don't see it much

Not sure if this other guy was just watching or participating. Bug ****

Snakes always give me caution to say the least, but when they are balled up it REALLY gets your attention. Thankfully no big head on this guy, and with a gentle prod he moved out of the way without incident.

You know you are sweating too much when the butterflies start to land on your shoulder. This guy landed on my shoulder 6-8 times and after 5 attempts let me even grab a shot of it.

The big rig was a little too big for the 3 wt and overkill for the stream, so I switched to a neversink with yellowhammer dropper.

Lovely speck water. After getting most of my hits on the dry (Nathan was getting more dropper hits), I did the inevitable and cut off my dropper for the first time this year.

Nathan was being stealth and racked up 5 from one pool and six from another. My best pool was 3 caught and to missed.

As I'm walking upstream I see a 5 inch hole in the bottom of the pool which grabs my attention. Sure enough a crawfish is inside.

    No it's not Skelator

Tell me that doesn't look appealing

    And a view downstream

Nathan pulling one from a nice run

    Nathan's dinner

    Nice chunk of Quartz

And the spot you REALLY need to pay attention for so you don't spend the night in the woods

And I almost forgot to give you a flower pic

If this isn't completely obvious to you that this is the trail please don't go here.

    A benefit of fallen Hemlocks

I temporarily lost a rod piece in the Rhodo, but thankfully found it. Nathan fished a sweet couple pools on way out.

If everyone else knew what we did we wouldn't be the only ones here

And somewhere there is a bear in this shot, but it was too dark to capture
